Meet the Midwife
Kate Chantry CPM, LM
Are you looking for an experienced midwife to guide you through your childbearing years? Hold space for normal physiological pregnancy and childbirth, as well as respecting your right for autonomy over your body and baby? Provide you with information and education to therefore make informed and empowered decisions? I’m here for you.
I am a wife, mother of two, midwife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. As a licensed midwife of over 10 years, I have welcomed over 500 babies into the world including a handful of twins and breeches. The seed of becoming a midwife was planted at a young age being one of the eldest of 9 children in a home-birthing, homeschooling family. I remember going with my mom to her midwife appointments and had the privilege of witnessing my youngest sister’s birth when I was 12. Seeing a tuft of hair slowly emerge will be forever ingrained in my memory.
I attended Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton, Maine, graduating in 2011. Upon graduating, I moved to the Driftless Region of Wisconsin and did a year internship at the rural La Farge Medical Clinic that served the surrounding Amish and Plain communities. Joining the team of midwives and family physicians, I worked there from 2011-2021. There, I gained experience in normal birth, along with additional complications that would normally risk out of midwifery care or wouldn’t be seen as often in a typical community based midwifery practice due to the support of 2-3 family physicians. During this time I had a small home birth practice, as well as supporting local midwives in their practices. I also gave birth to my own 2 children, the first in the hospital due to pre-eclampsia and prematurity and the next one peacefully at home!
"Home is the traditional place for a birth; hospitals are a 20th century experiment."
Rashima Baldwin
I hold current certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and CPR and maintain training in Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics (ALSO) .
Since 2014, I have been certified in Abdominal Therapy, having completed all 4 manual therapy classes – Self-Care, Professional, Advanced Pregnancy, and Certification. Recently, I also became a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner.
When I am not immersed in midwifery you can find me home with my family learning to parent in a conscious way, foraging for wild foods, mushrooms, and herbal medicines, knitting, sewing, and of course taking care of the endless to-do lists.
Gratitude to my dear husband who holds our family structure together allowing me to serve women and their families, and gratitude to our close friends and family who support us too. I would not choose to do this work without you all!
La Farge Birth and Wellness Center

There, my practice is currently based out of, offering both home and birth center birth options. I typically see clients for appointments Mondays and Wednesdays.
